HARC Chant Workshop

Come explore the mystical and divine world of humming, chanting and
toning with the extraordinary vocal duo HARC (Ruth Cunningham and
Ana Hernandez) as they take us through a journey of tapping deeper
into our singersoul-filled selves, enabling us to develop a deeper
and richer practice of opening up our voices to become more grounded
in our daily lives, personally and professionally.

HARC
Ana Hernández & Ruth Cunningham

Whether you are a singer, instrumentalist, healthcare professional, priest, teacher,
therapist, body worker, or hospice worker, the more you know yourself (and your own
vibration) and connect to who you are in your heart, the more effective you are at
staying grounded and bringing your wholeness into any situation. These practices can
support you in doing this. They are also good for your health; stress is reduced,
endorphins are released, circulation improves, and clarity and focus are sharpened.

HARC is Ruth Cunningham and Ana Hernández. Ana and Ruth have been collaborating
performers and sound healers since 2001. They have two cross-cultural chant CDs:
HARC: Inside Chants and Blessed by Light. Their music makes use of texts from
Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, and Jewish sources and combines them with musical
traditions as far-flung as the joyous repetition of Indian Kirtan, the simple harmony
of Irish folk songs and the pure sound of medieval chant. In addition to newly
composed and traditional tunes, they enjoy creating improvised counterpoint. They
have facilitated experiences of healing sound and chant at conferences, workshops,
and concerts, and are often called upon to create innovative liturgies. The work
of HARC comes out of their individual practice and experience with chanting and
sacred sound, and their desire to share with others the potential of sound and music
to transform lives.

Ruth Cunningham is a founding member of the vocal ensemble Anonymous 4 and a
sound healing practitioner. With Anonymous 4, Ruth has performed in concerts and
festivals throughout the United States, Europe and the Far East and made twelve
recordings. Ruth's most recent solo CD releases are Light and Shadow: Chants,
Prayers and Improvisations
and Harpmodes: Journey for Voice and Harp. She is
certified as a cross-cultural music healing practitioner and has also studied vocal
improvisation for many years with Rhiannon.

Ana Hernández is a composer/arranger, multi-instrumentalist, and workshop leader.
She has produced seven CDs, and is author of The Sacred Art of Chant: Preparing to
Practice
, about the use of chanting as a spiritual discipline. She leads workshops on
the uses of sound to revitalize prayer and build open-hearted, engaged communities.
