WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY

Psalm 137:1-9 (By the rivers of Babylon...)
Lamentations 1:1-6, 3:19-26 (How lonely sits the city that
once was full of people! Israel's homelessness in exile.
Steadfast love of the Lord never ceases)

A Lonely City

Literal emptiness in a/the city a reflection of emptiness
inside/among us. Pain of loss of "home". Longing for
internal fulfillment and the fulfillment of home/community,
especially on World Communion Sunday.

II Timothy 3:14-4:5 (all Scripture inspired by God,
proclaim the message)

To Pluck Up and Pull Down

Building involves discernment about what to disassemble,
let go of, etc. as a part of the process of building anew
(can be a freeing process/spring cleaning); our/my
uncomfortable relationship with Scripture yet how
encountering it in earnest is a doorway into new life and
critical to our path.
